Pae Ora: Collaborations in Action
A Kaupapa Māori evaluation study of Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan 2020-2025
This study is a collaboration between Tākiri Mai Te Ata, Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu, Te Awa Kairangi Kai Collective, Flax Analytics, and contracted researchers. The evaluation is being carried out between 2022-2026 and is supported by Rōpū Kaitiaki members with expertise in mātauranga Māori, health service delivery, and Māori health policy.
The overarching goal of the study is to determine what Whakamaua looks like in practice, identifying what is, and is not, working well and why, and where improvements can be made.
To address this goal, the research examines four levels of the implementation of Whakamaua:
Level 1- Policy and implementation;
Level 2 -Governance and provision of primary health care for Māori;
Level 3 - Impact on iwi, Māori, and Māori-led provider organisations; and
Level 4 - Impact on Māori health outcomes.
